In Memoriam: Edward Herrmann

As the year ends, there is some sad news with the passing of Edward Herrmann. A brilliant actor, in the Horror genre he's known for his memorable role as the head vampire in the classic The Lost Boys and the Munsters movies of the 1990s. In a life that has seen him portray such memorable roles in both movies and television, his presence will be missed. His versatility cannot be understated as you can see from his variety of roles he has done throughout his career. May he rest in peace knowing the legacy he has left behind.

Gotham by Midnight (#2)

This Batman spinoff (as some may see it) is an excellent story. Gotham with elements of Hellblazer is how I can describe it. IA is speechless at what actually happens during a fight with a ghost nun abducting children while the sister of the crew recalls the words as names that she has heard in the past which is leading to something bigger....and I cannot wait to see where this all leads! Yes, I say that a lot but I am loving this new series! Glad I got on this early before the bandwagon jumpers do....and you should to!

Big Trouble in Little China (#7)

Well ol' Jack Burton is on the run, Egg is in hiding but is discovered by the ugly 7 faced widow and, after a hog fight to the death with a gang leader, Jack becomes the new leader. Where will this lead to you ask? BACK TO CHINATOWN OF COURSE! From my guess there is one issue left and it has been a wild ride upon the Pork Chop Express and, if it is the end, the ride has been awesome! So, get on this story to see what ol' Jack Burton has to say about all this....and just smile ear to ear reading it.

Deadpool (#38)

ZENPOOL IS DEAD! Sorry about the spoiler but the Axis storyline is over with and everyone is back to normal. However, Deadpool is sad? Everyone else is happy around him while he seems to be missing that being center provided. I am happy that the previous storyline has run its course but I am curious to see where they bring the Merc with a Mouth next. Hey, since when isn't Deadpool happy? This is throwing me off a little! I miss the jokes and the stabbing and the mayhem....I wonder when he will be happy enough to do that again!

Clive Barker's Nightbreed (#7)

Now, we get to hear Aaron's back story. The story is something that grabs you and doesn't let go! We also get another back story....I am curious to see where this all leads. The art and the story are simply topnotch! This is all building to something and, I think that something is just going to be awesome! Yes, I remember this was supposed to be a miniseries but there is just so much that they have packed in thus far that I cannot wait to see how this all ends OR! Maybe, they will make it into an ongoing series...one can only hope.

Clive Barker's Nightbreed (#6)

So, lets dive in shall we? The back stories continue as we find out more about the monsters in Midian. The art and the stories are just phenomenal! This is all building into something epic, something so much more! Like the story that has spawned all this greatness, there is so much in the way of surprises and awesomeness that I cannot wait for what they do next!

The Goon: Occasion of Revenge (#4 of 4)

With the conclusion of this current storyline, the river of misery that flows beneath the feet of the Goon and his gang goes into overflow! The Goon discovers that his alliance is in danger because of the murder, his girl friend is a shape shifter who is out to screw his life and, we find out the true meaning of why his enemies are toying with him. Eric Powell has me drooling at the mouth with what he will come up with next as the story and the art are FANTASTIC! Lets see what happens with the next storyline and where he'll take the Goon next.

The Panic Beats - Rest in Pieces

One part Ramones and one part badass, The Panic Beats release a monster of an album. The songs are short and powerful as they remind you of the first 4 classic Ramones albums while just being fun to listen to. Now, don't think they are a ripoff of the fathers of Punk. Far from! That is just what the music reminds you of. The art is twisted, the music is classic sounding as this is one I have on repeat! Yes, it is that freaking good! The art is awesome, twisted and just great to look at! Basically, between the art and the music, it is a great package! Standouts include the smashing introduction "Get Ready for a Bloodbath", "Chop Chop", "Matchmaker", "I Drink Your Blood", "Silent Night, Deadly Night", "I Don't Wanna Die", "A Hatchet for the Honeymoon" and "Rest in Pieces". Get on this release as this is a great band to get into....and yea, it is fun beyond fun too.

Escape from New York (#1)

More Sci-Fi then Horror, this is a comic you may be interested in. Taking place immediately following the events of the original movie, Snake is on the run as we find out what happened in the time between the two classic films. He stabs and breaks his leg to freedom on his way to the independent state of...Florida! That's right! The state is run by twins with access to old Russian missiles from Cuba while the US is on the brink of WWIII because of what he did to the president. Everything you loved about the character is here to enjoy as the issue and the art have you smiling from ear to ear. I hope they keep up this goodness and write until we find him in LA....Snake is a classic character and it is good to see him back in his old badass ways again!

Army of Darkness: Ash in Space (#1)

So, Ash has gone where no idiot, chosen one has gone before...that's right folks! He's in space! Though the beginning of the story threw me off a little as I am not quit sure who he is talking about as the last issue I read was the issue where he gets married though....I believe this is us getting right back to the previous storyline that Dynamite was writing before. I am glad, the intro got me all caught up and it's go time! So, take Ash, some deadites and a demented possessed monk with that evil book and throw it in space! That's right! Fun, laughs and blood flow in this HUGE first issue! Check it out as it is off with a bang and the ending just promises more fun for the chosen one to endue.

Deadpool (#38) or The Uncanny Deadpool (#38)

With the 75th anniversary of Marvel, Deadpool's cover gets the old school, classic X-Men treatment....and it looks awesome! As for the story itself? It continues the Axis, more zen, less merc Deadpool helping his North Koren X-Men clone friends and pissing off his wife with his more "centered" outlook on life. She misses the funny, stabbing fiend she married and, so do I. With the Marvel world turned upside down, I see it going for another issue or two before we get the Deadpool we all know and love, slashing and hacking his way through a pile of bodies with his sweet moves making jokes along the way. Hey, with the movie officially confirmed, it is only a matter of time before he returns to his old ways. I am not saying I don't enjoy this storyline but, I am waiting for what's next ya know? This only makes me miss Deadpool more and more of the way he used to be....and the jokes too!

VHS Glitch - Night on the Dark Hill

This album brings to mind some 80s horror soundtracks full of synthesizer. The music flows into each other to create an illusion of a concept album or, a great paring for an 80s giallo movie! The musicianship is top notch and, at 25 minutes leave you wanting more! Standouts include "Requiem (Intro)", "Night on the Dark Hill", "Escape" and "Werewolves Howl". Even the artwork recalls a time when you would pick up a movie just because it intrigued you or the art looked awesome as hell! Check out this piece of the 80s that broke free and is transported into 2014... if you loved those giallo soundtracks you'll be glad you did!

Ghost (#10)

So, Vaughn is a little spooked after what he saw Elsa do as the Ghost to some bad guys. Oh! She also moves out to be closer to the crime. Elsa is slowly changing and in which direction she is heading to, I guess we'll have to see. In this war she has brought upon herself to fight, she suffers a surprise attack and, a surprising loss all orchestrated by a guy who says he can defeat the Ghost. Where will this take her? How far will this push her? Now that the mayor is on board, who is Elsa fighting for? Is there anyway or anyone she can protect? Guess we'll have to read on to see what happens next!

Vagora and Robby Bloodshed - Devils in the Dawn Tour DVD

Here is a DIY shot DVD of the summer tour featuring select songs from both Vagora and Robby Bloodshed. No back stage antics, just ass kicking music live! If you couldn't make it out to one of these shows, this is the next best thing as both bands just deliver! A personal highlight for me is when Johnny Whitehurse and Jesse Nameless are  in the back, acoustically doing the Blitzkid classic "Pumpkin Patch Murders". This just shows you the power of the scene and the music as a whole. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this...you'll be glad you did!

Gotham by Midnight (#1)

With my 200th post, I am reviewing the new series that asks, who deals with the weird stuff not even Batman can deal with. The GCPD have a special force that deals with the super natural. Batman hands them to the cases and then they go full force...with IA breathing down their necks of course. This story is very entertaining so far. A story about Gotham without Batman or any of the Bat-family that is actually good? WHO'D HAVE THOUGHT! The ending with a demented nun in an evil classroom? SO AWESOME! I can't wait for issue 2 to hit the shelves...yes, it is that good. The writing and the art are meant for an older more mature audience...sorry kids, this is for us to enjoy!

All New Ghost Rider (#9)

So, Johnny stops Robbie/Eli with his stair and we discover more about him....as does the Blue Krue! Well, now, his life is falling apart with Gabe still upset after what happened when Eli took over and the pill popping gang is controlling the city. This is all shaping up to be a good story as we find out more and more about Robbie and how he plans to control Eli to not let the evil take control again.

Deadpool (#37)

So this, more peaceful, more zen Deadpool is pissing off his wife, weirding out others and is pissing off his more violent side! The comments are hilarious as I am curious to see how far they take this new zen approach. I think it lasts for one or two more issues. I miss the old Deadpool and his stabbing, shooting, ass kicking ways though, this is pretty funny. However, yea, it is funny and ridiculous how calm Deadpool is now.

Big Trouble in Little China (#6)

Now that I am all caught up, I am loving this story more and more! So, after the issue at the bar resolved Jack and Wang are out in the desert with an alien ghost dressed in chaps and Miao and Egg are hiding from Lo Pan on the midnight road. Where this all ends who knows. It has been a while ride so far and I am loving every moment of it. Eric Powel, take a bow! You took this screen play and made it into awesomeness...and for that I am thankful!

Big Trouble in Little China (#5)

Well, like the Pork Chop Express rolls on, so does the fun that is this current series. Thus, with the return of Lo' Pan and him wanting revenge, Jack Burton and company get out of Chinatown. Pete has turned on him as well thus, and he leads Lo' Pan's minions on a chase cross country where Wang  is dressed like a woman who then starts fighting bikers until....tummy troubles. This should be turned into a movie (maybe a cartoon?) this is just awesome! If you're a fan, get on this....or get the trade when it is over to see all the fun you missed.

Monday 24 November 2014

The Renfields - GO!

Well, Transylvania's favorite pogo punk band is back with 14 awesome tracks and their best recording yet! Sure, some of the songs may be familiar to long time fans but, this is the best they have ever sounded! New fans will delight as they stalk, slash, scream, yell and stab their way into the hearts of many. The Renfields are already one of the most beloved bands on the scene and this recording just reinforces it. Catchy songs, great musicianship...its all here. In a world where there is so much crap that some pass off as quality music, with the power of the Ramones on their side, the Renfields remind you of what awesomeness actually is! I can't even pick standout tracks as I just love them all! If you're not a fan already, you owe it to yourself to grab this release or don't be shocked if they send the Fiend after you! Thus, don't say you haven't been warned.

Big Trouble in Little China (#4)

Well, now that they have retrieved the jars and come home it is time to retrieve Wang right? Well, the evil spirit has some other plans as he brings about the spirits of his captured brothers and Jack is reminded of his one true love, the first Mrs. Burton during an oddly touching moment. Why was this not made into a motion picture all those years ago I'll never know. Hope on the Pork Chop Express and join the ride as each issue makes you smile and laugh much like the original movie did!

Big Trouble in Little China (#3)

Well, in the 3rd issue, Jack Burton uses his quick reflexes and his crappy listening skills to outsmart the 7 faced widow in their own house while commenting them on the false advertising of themselves. Throw in the return of the egg eating monkeys looking for blood after pissing on ol' Pork Chop and a battle ensues. As well, we find out that maybe that evil spirit may not be as up to snuff on his deal as you think he'd be....bummer. Well, I didn't comment before but the writing and the art are top notch. There is a sense of something that feels like a blanket you love, almost comforting as they went out of their way to make it as it should be instead of some updated adaptation. There is a reason that the original is such a beloved classic and this sequel does nothing but remind you of why.

Big Trouble in Little China (#2)

Well, like the movie, it's been a long time in the making! Due to a shipping error, I had to wait for the second issue before I could read/review the others so, as ol' Jack Burton says when he finally gets his missing issue and can finally read them and review them he looks said computer in the eye while telling it lets do this! What can I say? If you loved the original movie there is so much to love here! It has those familiar characters, their voices, it is funny, chaotic....it is the sequel that was written all those years ago and the Pork Chop Express is back in full force baby! So, Wang is captured by an evil Chinese spirit and Jack is given the task of retrieving three jars from the 7 faced widow located on the Midnight Road in order to free him. Well, with Pete the monkey and Egg in tow, they head off, piss off some pickled egg eating monkeys, talks to a guy riding a turtle and ask from evil woman tied to a tree for directions. Yes, I know this all makes as much sense to someone who was never a fan as an episode of Raw but, meh, I like it! If you were a fan of the original, you'll find so much to love in this sequel that should of been.

Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched (#4)

Well, this is the conclusion to this current four part series that saw Ash stay back in time, battle evil and marry Shelia. In this issue he comes face to face against the faceless one (see what I did there?) and, with his resourcefulness, KICKS HIS ASS! That's right folks! Ash saves the day, marries Shelia and everything is groovy...until he gets drunk and says the words. Yes! The one time he actually remembers the words! This time it sucks him up and, guessing by the next title coming out soon, he may end up in a place where no idiot has gone before. That's right! ASH IN SPACE! This story, now that it has concluded was funny and a good story. With my original fears going unfounded, I am happy with how the overall story played out. This is something you'd expect from the character and I would of loved them to continue the previous story lines of Ash in the now but, this has worked pretty good so far. What more could you ask? Now, I am a little hesitant about Ash in space but, who knows. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised...guess we'll see as the art and story telling have been top notch so far.

Walking Dead: Volume 22 - A New Beginning

On with the new trade paperback and it begins in a state of....peace? Well the war is over, Negan is in jail (YES THEY MADE A JAIL JUST FOR HIM!), Carl is moving out, Rick is having a hard time and the communities are rebuilding civilization. A new group is brought in (who are skeptic at least) and, just when it seems that all is well, settling down with the happy ending in sight....a new enemy is introduced at the very end. This seems to be genius! How they operate, what they do....I can't wait to see where they head with this! A new beginning indeed as the communities are now thriving and, looking on the brighter side of life with the unknown threat outside their walls. Robert Kirkman and company are doing an amazing job. Dammit, they should be writing the show cause these books are just pure gold! They are hard to put down and, if they even turned them into a cartoon (black and white of course!) I'd be glad.

Thursday 13 November 2014

The Goon: Occasion of Revenge (#3 of 4)

So, as the war wages on, the Goon gets the help he needs by protecting an over privileged brat. With the Goon's girlfriend (or someone who looks like her?) leaks some information to this guy's protection and he shoots him which puts the Goon in a really really really really really tight spot and can hurt his chances at the war. What will happen in the final issue? I guess we'll find out when it drops!

The Goon: Occasion of Revenge (#2 of 4)

The Goon is one of the most compelling and awesome characters today. So, with a war against a coven of witches looking to take over the town. In this issue, The Goon is looking for some help from the outside, is in love, Franky waking up to a shit covered clock, we find out more about the lockjaw and a little bit about one of his adversaries. Eric Powell's art and story is great as revenge is on the plate that is being served.

Ghost (#9)

Well, the cover is a little misleading as to what is happening in this issue as the fight between Ghost is with herself and what she wants to with her powers. Thus, the fight shown on the cover is more metaphorical but pretty awesome. The question though as she begins to take the underground on, how far will the Ghost go? When is it going too far? When she will cross the line that she cannot go back? Read on to find out as the story just gets more interesting.

Jerry Vayne - From Darkness... They Become! Vol: 2

Looking for that soundtrack to play in order to enhance that haunted house you worked so hard designing for those poor unsuspecting trick 'r' treaters coming to your door? Try this release form Jerry Vayne. Take some kick ass riffs, make some headbanging songs and you have what easily could be a soundtrack for any modern Horror flick. This music makes great background music but, it is also  nice to listen to. Basically, a nice heavy mood setting if you will that will kick your ass and take a bite out of you before it ever even thinks of putting you down and to sleep. It's hard to pick standouts because they blend to nicely together in a way that makes you feel it is just one really epic long song (that you don't even notice the length too!). This is labeled as haunt music and it does a great job at it. If you can't decide on which band you wanna blast this Halloween for all to hear give this a spin....this should be able to scare all those little kiddies straight and sending them running home while leaving their candy behind for you to enjoy!

The Ghoolz - The Ghoolz

Hailing from Michigan, this 50's influenced Horror Rock band takes from the decade you love while injecting it with new blood! Catchy Doo-Wop lyrics with some great and catchy music that, together, create a winning formula. This stunning debut is a great and fun album to listen to for this upcoming Halloween season..... or have playing loudly for all to hear whenever someone comes to your door at least. Standouts include "Atomic Grave", "The Ghost of James Dean", "Day of the Dead", "Teenage Zombie Girl", "A Plentiful Feast", "Creature", "The Ghoolz", "Hellena", "Get Her Fix" and "Shoot'em Dead". So, if you like some Rockabilly with your monsters, check out The Ghoolz. This release has me drooling and wondering what they will do to follow this release up and I will keep my ears open for future releases from them.

Friday 24 October 2014

Deadpool (#36)

So the monster kingdom is in lock down, Deadpool's wife is pissed at him, the Merc with a Mouth turns down both the X-Men and Avengers during the Axis storyline....and he comes out calm? That's right! Deadpool has found inner peace. Scary isn't it! This could be funny or this could be bad....who knows. I love this character and I am interested to where this is going...lets us see.

All-New Ghost Rider (#8)

Well Johnny Blaze and Eli/Robbie open up with a battle and we find out more about how the new Ghost Rider works, who Eli is and why you just won't be rooting for this one. The writers have taken everything you ever knew about Ghost Rider, threw it out the damn window and now, I don't know where it is going! Johnny better slap some sense into him....maybe he should call Danny to help. This isn't the way the character is supposed to be! This isn't what you would expect! Maybe change will be good. Maybe they have some big plan for the character in the next issues but right now, I don't know how I feel. They took everything great that they had done so far, took the character they were building and thought you knew and threw it out the window. Lets see where this is headed....but right now this series feels like it is coming to an end soon and that's really a shame after an awesome start.

Nim Vind - Saturday Night Seance Songs

Sometimes there is an artist that people just love. An artist that a lot of people seem to get behind, musicians included. Sometimes, awesomeness comes from North of the boarder. If you haven't guessed already, I am talking about the new Nim Vind album of course! The crooning that he has perfected over the years is at perfection and the songs just take everything he has done thus far and raises it to a whole other level. Standouts include "ESP", "Where I'm From", "That Girl", "Counter Shock Resurrection", "Master Spider", "Astronomicon (Todd Rundgren remix)", "The Philistine Beat", "War of the Worlds", "Fear O Fear", "21th Century Boy (Live from Germany)" and "Wolfbane Blues". So, the next time you are holding a seance, bring this album along with the Ouija board...who knows who you'll come across but, they may enjoy this album too!

A Gathering of None - Nothing Left to Loose

Tracy Bryd or, as most may know him, TB Monstrosity, was the long time axeman and vocalist for both the legendary Blitzkid and the awesome Vagora. Last year, he released an E.P. from his new project A Gathering of None that was just AWESOME! Fast forward a year and a crowd funding campaign later, we have the full length version of his work. Thus, there is a lot of eager ears to check out anything new by this man. So, with that long introduction done, let us get to the tunes at hand shall we? The music is top notch with some great lyrics. This may not be Horror Rock but it kicks ass just the same! This is honest rock with great riffs and an awesome voice to accompany it. Highlights include the opener "Fall Where They May", "Harry Houdini", "Right There With You", "Perfect Plan", "Always the Hard Way", "Like a Razorblade", "Rhyme and Reason", "Blue Print", "The Death of a Friend" and "Abandoned Ship". All fans of this man and his music deserve to give this new release a listen....you'll thank yourself later for it, trust me!

Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched (#3)

Okay, I'm saying it now! Funniest issue of the current runs of Army of Darkness! This is funny and fun from beginning to end much like the movie that inspired the series. Ash is his usual self in the cemetery when he comes face to face with a deadite and the faceless man while the his companions deal with an army of the dead in his absence. It is everything you expect to happen...and you'll enjoy it because of that. This has been a great run and it all comes to an end with the next issue. This was a great run that I was skeptical at first but found really enjoyable overall.

Deadpool (#35)

So, I am not reviewing the previous issue as there is no horror element but, trust me when I say it is maybe the darkest issue of Deadpool ever. We find out just what the eye showed when it exploded in the Original Sin story. Thus, Deadpool now lives across from Preston and his daughter while his wife is at home in the kingdom of monsters. A wounded Dracula has modified a Spiderbot to go after Deadpool, throw in a homeless man and...let the laughs ensue! This issue is funny, light (compared to the darkness of the previous issue) and is fun. Trying to find someone who doesn't like Deadpool is like asking who doesn't breath. He is one of the characters that you can do so much with (as seen in the Marvel universe) and the fans reap the benefits.

All New Ghost Rider (#7)

Well, well, well. Robbie keeps racing to make extra money to get his brother the treatment he needs and get out of the current neighborhood, Hyde is in hiding, there is some killer animals hopped up on the super solider pills and, a very special guest makes an appearance at the end! Who is it? Read the issue and find out! I am really happy how the story is involving and the character is growing naturally with each issue as he finds out more about himself and his new found powers. Keep reading to find out what happens next as the next issue could be a team up or, he has a new mentor who knows more about himself then he does.

Saturday 27 September 2014

Ghostbusters (#20)

This is the finale of the ongoing series of the IDW series and the end of the Mass Hysteria storyline. This 8 part series perfectly honored the 30th anniversary of probably my favorite franchise EVER. The ending is EXPLOSIVE! Winston decides to sacrifice himself in order to stop Timat from her reign of chaos but, to her, it is unacceptable. However, she has another sacrifice in mind that will change his world forever....will Winston survive? As well, with the containment unit about to explode from the damage sustained, what will Egon, Ray and Peter do? The story and the series is wrapped up nicely with great art, great storytelling and a section that tells you what happens to the other Ghostbusters characters following these events. Oh! And a certain green SLIMY ghost makes an appearance because Peter feels a little like a romantic....If you're a fan there is so much to love here as this is what Ghostbusters 3 should be...filled with the characters that we have loved for 30 years now and new characters to help the story build, expand and be awesome. So, with a new crossover coming with another piece of my childhood I ask you, who you gonna call?

Clive Barker's Nightbreed (#5)

Well on rolls the Nightbreed series with more background stories of the occupants of Midian as we see that, maybe not all the occupants are the best of people before they entered the gates. As well, we see the worst of people in the judgmentalness of others. It is a great story that really expands the world that Clive Barker created years ago. Now, my major question is, where did the priest go? These stories are great, gory, classy, entertaining and thought provoking like the original source material. So, if you're still on the fence, get on this! You really are missing out!

Ghost (#8)

So, the final battle between the dude who can disappear and reappear along with Von Ghastly against the Ghost. These villains were great as they were great tests for the Ghost. It also gave us something to work towards for the last few issues. Sadly, both are done and, it seems they are now both out of commission. I wonder where they will take the story next. Who will be the next villain? Now that Elsa has learned to let go of her human side to accept the Ghost will there be consequences? I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

HELP OUT SHADOW WINDHAWK AND THE MORTICIANS!

That's right folks! Help get one of the awesomest albums released this year pressed on vinyl and a music video made! Contribute here! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/swatm-casket-spray-on-vinyl-and-new-music-video and tell them Jekyll sent ya!

Clive Barker's Nightbreed (#4)

As the story continues we are introduced to someone who is coming to possibly bring fire and brimstone to the gates of Midian. The story is amazing but I wonder where is Decker in all this? Is this a new threat altogether or is he still a part of the story? I don't think this is a sequel as Boone has simply just arrived to Midian. Maybe this is all leading to that epic battle from the story? I guess we'll find out as the story continues as the stories of the occupants are told to Boone.

Clive Barker's Nightbreed (#3)

Ah, so these comics thus far are, telling the story of some of the occupants of Midian. Here we find out more of the others who live there while Boone is told their stories. There is so much to love here for fans as the art is great and it stays true to the original story as well as the movie as even the outfits are from the early 90s (this is not including time pieces). Get on this if you haven't already!

Ace Frehley - Space Invader

Here, we have the new album by legendary original ex-KISS guitarist, the Space Ace himself! That's right folks! Ace Frehley is back with an album of all new material that kicks ass! This album is much better then the last KISS album Monster as the original and true Spaceman shows Tommy just how it's done. Les Paul in hand, Ace delivers the good both vocally and with his guitar as you'd expect the master too. Standouts include "Space Invader", "Gimmie a Feelin'", "I Wanna Hold You", "Change", "Immortal Pleasures", "Inside the Vortex", "What Every Girl Wants", "Past the Milky Way", his cover of "The Joker" (shockingly, you'd think he'd cover this by now as the lyrics are an obvious choice!) and the awesome instrumental "Starship". Though it may not be his best solo album as that honor still belongs to his self titled 1978 effort and, for the second time ever, no "Fracture"instrumental, there is so much to love if you're a fan of both the original KISS and the Spaceman himself!

INDEPENDENTS ON TOUR IN CANADA AND THE USA THIS LATE SUMMER AND FALL!

That's right folks, the legendary, the awesome, The Independents are on tour this late summer and fall. Go out and support their awesomeness where you can!

Vagora - The Lust Of Lily Chapter 1: Dracunculus Vulgaris

With their third release of the year, and the first of all new material, Vagora drops a bomb of awesomeness on their new EP. We had a taste of new material with the live album and the explosiveness of the new lineup on their studio live album but, this release is breath taking. Vagora just keeps building on what they did in the past and knocking it out of the park no matter who's in the lineup. The addition of Jesse Nameless to the writing team is a nice fit...basically, all killer, no filler or, what you expect from a Vagora album. Thus, the standouts are the whole EP. I mean, it is just killer! As well, if Chapter 1 is this good, I cannot wait for Chapter 2 when that drops!

Wednesday 27 August 2014

Ghostbusters (#19)

Well the 30th anniversary Mass Hysteria story line continues with the second last issue of the on going series as Ray is possessed by both Tiamat and Gozer! What will Peter, Egon and Winston do? Well, one god eats the other (WHAAAAAA!?) and tries to shut down the containment unit CAUSING MASS HYSTERIA (get it?). Winston remembers something Kylie said about human sacrifice....what will the Ghostbusters do? Will one of them make the ultimate sacrifice to save the world before the god destroys everything? I guess we'll find out in the conclusion of this great series that IDW has produced.

Army of Darkness: Ash Gets Hitched (#2)

Well, Ash, Shelia and the old wizard are the search for this dude as...YOU GUESSED IT! Ash said some words that brought evil into the world. The car is still in the past! All New Ghost Rider (#6)

Well, now that the streets are safe, Robbie is using his powers to win money street racing, school is improving, his brother is doing better and....Dr. Z/Hyde is ALIVE! That's right! After the anti-climatic fight of the last issue he is back with a new drug to rebuild his army and empire. I am glad that they went this route instead of writing him off as there is so much more they can do now that the new Ghost Rider thinks all is safe...oh! That reminds me. In the issue, there is someone who sees the news and takes off, on a bike, to check out the new Rider. Is it who we think it is? I guess we'll find out as the series continues!

All New Ghost Rider (#5)

Well, the gang war is on...Grumpy is TORN apart by Hyde....and damn is it epically gory....and the war then hits the streets....and Robbie's brother is right dab in the middle of this fight. In enters Ghost Rider to battle Hyde and company....Hyde shows you the dangers of drugs and that is the end of it all. Kind of anti climatic really. However, that is not the end of the issue as the Ghost Rider has some unfinished business with an old...lets call him friend from school. Now that the streets are safe, what's next for Ghost Rider? Guess we'll find out.
