So, this is the first issue in what looks like to be an ongoing monthly series about Big Red. Sure, we have had glimpses before of his childhood or earlier missions through books, graphic novels and other B.P.R.D. mini series but, here we have his first mission. Have a bright eye youngster, a worried dad, shady agent, a drunk disapproving priest, and a town in the shadows....you have the beginnings of gold. It is no lie that I am a fan of Hellboy and cannot wait to see what they do next. However, until the next issue of
Hellboy in Hell is released, this is a good idea by Mignola and company to give us a glimpse into the past of his life especially since this is supposed to lead up to his debut in 1993 and the death of his dad. I cannot wait to see the stories they tell to fill in the gaps leading up to that amazing story.
